Student Travel Awards for the Berlin International Diatom Symposium

Dear fellow young diatomists!
Are you considering to go to the International Diatom Symposium in Berlin? Don’t leave it too late, you can apply for a Student Travel Award (up to 1000 Euro and free conference fees!!) until the 1st of February! 

 Grants apply for bachelor and master students, doctoral students and early postdocs.
What you need to do is the following: Sending… 
  • An Abstract of your presentation (TALK) to be held at the Conference
  • A description of your current work including a list of your publications, your current employment status and any other relevant information (for example research collaboration) as well as your motivation to attend the IDS 2018
  • Your contact details (postal and email address)
  • A financial statement, which should list the total costs (in Euro) of your travel to Berlin
  • Short statement of your supervisor or one referee
.... via email attachment by 1 February 2018 to the congress office (ids2018@bgbm.org).

Geological setting in Finland The last glaciation, approximately 10 000 years ago, eroded and deposited material leaving behind a landscape full of glacial landforms in northern Europe. These landforms include thick layers of basal tills, glaciofluvial eskers, and moraines, to name a few. The retreating glacier also left behind a multitude of lakes in Finland. The Diatom New Taxon File, or “DNTF”, is a digitized card catalog of all published diatom names, along with original descriptions, images, and literature citations of taxa published since 1933.
