DIATOM/ ALGAL CONFERENCES








    Meeting of the NVKD (Dutch-Flemish Diatom Association)
    When: From October 3th until October 5th 2019
    Where: At Plantentuin Meise (Botanical Garden Meise, Belgium)
    Description of Meeting: A diatom meeting with diverse lecture topics. Keynote speaker is probably Paul Hamilton. During the meeting there will be an exhibition about diatom art in the botanical garden; which will be visited during the meeting. Additionally, there will be a workshop about the Fragilaria capucina complex.
    The meeting and workshop are open to members of the NVKD, but membership fees are low. More information on possibilities for students to join the meeting will come available on the website soon.

    7th  European Phycological Congress

    Description of Meeting: The 7th European Phycological Congress includes plenary presentations, a series of symposia, contributed papers and posters that will cover a broad range of topics spanning from algal diversity, ecology, genomics, cell biology and applied phycology.

    IbiS (Isotopes in Biogenic Silica)

    Description of Meeting: "Silicon, Silica and their Isotopes: Biology, Biogeochemistry and Biotechnology" aimed to share and discuss recent advances and discoveries in:
    1.      Biological and molecular processes involved in the production of biogenic silica.
    2.      Ecological and biogeochemical mechanisms behind silica fluxes and stocks in continental and marine ecosystems, including paleo-ecosystems.
    3.      Stable and radioactive isotopes for tracing and quantifying production, accumulation and recycling pathways of silicon and silica in both modern and ancestral environments of continental and marine systems.
    4.      Biotechnology of biosilicas and their isotopes.

    Phycological Society of America annual meeting

    Description of Meeting: This is a general phycological meeting that has presentations and posters devoted to different algae including diatoms

    North American Diatom Symposium 2019
    When: July 31 - August 4, 2019
    Where: University of Georgia's 4-H Center in Eatonton, Georgia (United States)
    Description of Meeting: International symposium participants will present their work in diatom research including biodiversity, evolution, ecology, systematics, biological assessment, paleolimnology, and nanotechnology. In addition to the scientific program, the meeting will include traditional NADS activities (the Scum Run and auction).
