Young ISDR news! New ECR elected at International Diatom Symposium in Berlin
In the proceedings of the International Diatom Symposium (IDS) in Berlin, a new Early Career Researcher (ECR) representative has been elected. The election was between candidates Demetrio Luis Mora, PostDoc student of the Berlin Team, Chetan Gaonkar, PostDoc student in Kochi University, Japan, and Andrea Burfeid Castellanos, doctoral student at the University of Barcelona.
After an election behind closed doors, the selected candidate was Andrea Burfeid, member of the Young Diatomist Core Team. She has expressed the wish to continue increasing the international networking activity between young diatomists, increasing the presence and importance of collaborators from all over the world.
We thank Hannah for the enormous job done, creating the organization of young diatomists. Her superhuman efforts have been incredible and have formed an impressive structure to maintain a worldwide network.
In the General Meeting of the International Society of Diatom Research (ISDR), the modification of the ECR presence in the council has been modified. This way, 2 ECRs will have overlapping mandates (4 years, alternatively elected at every IDS), so that there is a seamless function of the ECR structure.
Thanks to all voting young diatomists!
