We are pleased to invite you to participate in the 12th Central European Diatom Meeting, March 26-27, 2019.
The meeting will be organized by the Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology (LIST) in Belvaux, Luxembourg.
The Central European Diatom Meeting (CE-DiatoM) brings together senior scientists as well as students and diatomist practitioners and welcomes all aspects of both diatom research as well as biomonitoring. CE-DiatoM is an international platform of annual meetings held at different places in Europe additionally to the bi-annual meetings of the International Society for Diatom Research. The first CE-DiatoM was held in 2007 in Berlin and was the result of a joint meeting of the German Speaking Diatomists (DDT) and several other groups of European diatomists. Dr. Wiebe KOOISTRA, Department of Integrative Marine Ecology, Stazione Zoologica Anton Dohrn, Napoli, Italy
Title: Environmental DNA metabarcoding is proving to be a powerful approach to assess planktonic diatom diversity next to -or instead of- cell counting by means of light microscopy (LM)
Prof. Dr. David G. MANN, Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh, Edinburgh, UK, and Marine and Continental Waters Program, IRTA, Catalonia, Spain
Title: Do we need the bourgeoisie? The deficiencies of a Marxist approach to diatom classification above the species level
